關于英國留學入學時間，大家普遍了解的情況是秋季入學，第二年夏天結束一學年的學習。普遍說來，英國大學的入學時間跟國內相同，都是秋季（9或10月份）入學，到第二年夏天（6或7月份）為一學年，每學年分為三學期，稱之為：第一學期autumn term 9月底-12月初，之后是圣誕假期；第二學期Spring term 1月初-3月中下旬，之后為復活節假期；第三個學期summer term 4月中旬-6月中旬下旬，之后為暑假。一般每個學期10周，這個時間安排稱之為Academic Calendar。
這里說一下題外話，關于學期安排大部分大學幾乎相差不大，當然也有一些例外的情況，比如：
1 對每個學期的名稱稱呼有不同，比例，劍橋大學的三個學期稱之為 Michaelmas, Lent, Easter ，牛津大學稱之為 Michaelmas, Hilary, Trinity；
2 并不是每個學期都正好是10周，很多大學第一和第二學期的時間稍長，第三個學期時間較短，而且最后一個學期后面的時間主要是考試，基本考試結束就相當于該學期結束；
3 同一個大學每年有時會由于每年節假日的不同而進行調整，所以學期分配每年會有調整；
4 部分大學在第二學期中間有一個”reading week”，沒有課堂教學，相當于放假一周；
5 部分蘇格蘭大學只開設兩個學期，如圣安德魯University of St Andrews: Martinmas, Candlemas，第一個學期為秋季開學到圣誕節，第二個學期為1月份到5月底，期間3月中下旬有兩周的春假。
但是，優越教育的顧問婷婷老師表示，盡管英國大多數的課程都開始于秋季，但是依然有不少大學提供春季開學的課程（英國本科與碩士預科，大一文憑課程，以及少部分的本科與碩士課程都提供春季入學）。而適合申請英國春季入學的主要有以下幾類學生：
1 由于之前有其他打算錯過了秋季入學申請機會，臨時需要申請英國留學的，比如參加高考、考研失敗的同學或者本科畢業后找工作不理想的同學；
2 秋季申請由于競爭太激烈而導致申請失敗的同學；
3 準備語言考試太晚，沒來得及申請秋季入學的同學；
4 之前由于重修或者補考，沒有達到秋季入學通知書要求的條件的同學。
接下來，婷婷老師具體說明一下英國春季入學本科和碩士的特色。顯然，對于秋季入學，不管是從專業還是學校角度，可選擇的范圍更廣，但是春季入學有其自身的優勢：
1 首先，如果等到第二年秋季再入學其實相當于白白浪費了一年，如果達到直接入讀的條件，不需要再上語言班或者預科班的，春季直接入學可以節省等待的時間；
2 普遍說來，英國大學春季入學申請人數比秋季少，申請成功率相對會比較高，我們都了解，秋季申請過程中，由于申請人數過多，很多滿足入學要求的學生由于名額競爭壓力大而拿不到錄取通知書；
3春季入學也很理想地避免了秋季入學帶來的簽證申請高峰。
另外，要提醒大家的是，有的同學會擔心春季開學的課程不如秋季開學的正規，教學質量比秋季開學低，但這一點是絲毫不用擔心的，因為兩類課程唯一的區別就是開學時間，其他都是一樣的，不管是課程設置、教學質量、所能享受的教學資源、學習評估方法標準還是所獲證書的認可程度。
然后，我們簡單說一下一般的申請時間計劃表：
8、9月份：選擇申請院校，準備制作申請材料；
9、10月份：遞交材料，準備語言考試；
10、11月份：收到通知書，滿足學校相關錄取通知書條件，選擇入讀院校。交押金申請簽證所需CAS；
11、12月份：安排好住宿、遞交簽證申請；
12、01月份：獲得簽證，準備入學。
接下來，同學們會擔心春季開學后，課時如何安排，具體的畢業時間等。一般來說，不同學校會有不同的安排，春季開學學生畢業時間分兩種。一種是比秋季入學的同學晚一個學期畢業（Courses with a January start will finish a semester later than those that started in September ），比如倫敦都市大學等，這種普遍適用于碩士；第二種是，將第一學年的課程壓縮，假期減短，這樣第二年跟前一年秋季入學同步開設課程（Studying from January through to July, with a short break at Easter, allows students to join the second-years in September），比如考文垂大學等，這種普遍適用于本科。
